Cali startup delivers first electrical cargo airplane for US Air Pressure with as much as 200 mi vary

Pyka, a Silicon Valley startup, delivered its first electrical autonomous cargo airplane to AFWERX, the US Air Pressure’s community of innovators.

Based in 2017 in CEO Michael Norcia’s mother or father’s storage in Silicon Valley, the startup is now handing over electrical planes for US Air Pressure use.

Pyka initially centered on crop spraying with fewer laws and hurdles. Its first mannequin, the Egret, was licensed in New Zealand in Might 2019, making it the primary human-scale electrical plane for business use.

By January 2020, Pyka flew its second-gen electrical airplane, the Pelican. With a brand new design and options, the plane may carry over 3 times the payload of its predecessor.

After finishing load and flight testing, Pyka started serial manufacturing of the Pelican in late 2020. A lot of the manufacturing is finished at its Oakland, California facility. The Pelican went to work spraying Bananas in Costa Rica a couple of months later, in April 2021.
